BRISTOL 22 LODGE VISIT TO THE CHILDRENS HOSPICE SOUTH WEST

TedGroupPresentation2012

A small numbers of Brothers and wives visited the Hospice at Wraxall for a tour of the facility and to present a cheque for 903 which was collected by Brothers and Ladies over the Christmas period at Tesco Brislington.

To enable such a facility to operate takes a huge amount of money with only a small percentage coming from the Government and so any contribution is gratefully received. We were given a tour with the guide providing us with a very good insight into the work which is done when very sick children are admitted. - A final glimpse into the small chapel ‘The Starlight Room’ was a very moving time. Bro. Governor Ted Bury in the company of Lodge Brothers and wives presented the cheque to Tamara Downes the South West Community Fund Raiser. A very fulfilling day.

Charities Update

Every year Bristol 22 will allocate monies to various charities.
The most recent being: The Dystonia Society
Dystonia is a ‘neurological movement disorder characterised by sustained muscles spasms which can be very painful’ for which there is no cure! Bristol 22 gave 250

We also considered:  Help For Heroes
Help for Heroes does wonderful work for soldiers and other servicemen and women both directly and through its support of other charities. Bristol 22 gave 250.

At the July Lodge a representative from the charity The Children’s Air Ambulance told us of the task they have in raising money for a specialised helicopter fully equipped for any difficulty a child might be in. No such service is available as yet. But with the enthusiasm shown we are sure they will be successful in raising the money. Bristol 22 donated 50.

We have recently given 250 to the 151 Fishponds Baptist Scout Group. Rae Care presented the cheque

If anyone has an idea of other charities we could help please let it be known. The Board Of Officers  would welcome any suggestions. Thank you.
